ANÁLISE DE EFICIÊNCIA ENERGÉTICA DAS COMPANHIAS AÉREAS POR ROTAS: CASO DO AEROPORTO INTERNACIONAL DO RECIFE¶
Abstract¶
The high demand for air transport for passengers or transport of cargo and goods has been providing logistical changes in airport infrastructure, while efficient solutions require improved economic performance as well as reduced impacts on the climate crisis that the world is going through. The increase in air demand drives competition between airlines, as they must have aircraft with up-to-date equipment maintenance and suitable for each type and nature of flight. Thus, this work aims to evaluate the efficiency of four airlines operating at Recife/Guararapes International Airport (SBRF) in 2019 for each type of flight, evidencing the performance results obtained by the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) in two scenarios, as well as commenting on the results evidencing possible effects of each company’s aircraft on the results. In general, the analysis showed that Azul has greater efficiency than its competitors, mainly due to the adoption of the ATR- 72 model on short-haul flights. In addition, the application of the model showed that long flights are more efficient than short or medium-haul flights, with the company with the lowest performance being approximately 99% efficiency.
