ANÁLISE DO IMPACTO DA PANDEMIA DO COVID-19 NA MOVIMENTAÇÃO DE PASSAGEIROS EM AEROPORTOS QUE SERVEM CIDADES TURÍSTICAS BRASILEIRAS¶
Abstract¶
The air transport sector experienced a disruption in demand during the health crisis triggered by COVID-19. Of all the economic sectors dependent on air transport, Brazilian tourism has suffered its biggest drop in recent decades. In order to analyze the effect of passenger movement at airports that serve tourism-dependent cities in Brazil, this work presents a methodology for studying the impact of COVID-19 on airports that receive the most foreign tourists in Brazil. The methodology relies on the analysis of passenger movement data from the National Civil Aviation Agency in the period from 2015 to 2022. The study uses the moving average tool and seasonally adjusted data to verify passenger movement trends in the analyzed years. It was found that the reduction of foreign passengers in the country was 81.4% below the historical average in January 2021, while the total movement of passengers was 39.5% below for the same period. The proposed methodology proved to be efficient for analyzing the movement of passengers in airports in the face of a collapse in demand.
