AVALIAÇÃO DA IRREGULARIDADE LONGITUDINAL EM PAVIMENTOS AEROPORTUÁRIOS E PISTAS SEMI PREPARADAS¶
Abstract¶
THIS PAPER PRESENTS AN EFFECT OF LONGITUDINAL IRREGULARITY IN AIRPORT PAVEMENTS AND IN SEMI-PREPARED RUNWAYS. THE LACK OF MAINTENANCE ON AIRPORT RUNWAYS CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS. DURING AIRCRAFT LANDING OPERATIONS, PAVEMENT ROUGHNESS MAY INCREASE STRESS AND OTHER FACTORS WHICH MAY IMPAIR THE SAFE OPERATION OF THE AIRCRAFT (COCKPIT VIBRATIONS, EXCESSIVE G-FORCES, ETC.), AS WELL AS POSSIBILITIES OF ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS. LONGITUDINAL IRREGULARITY IS A FUNCTIONAL PARAMETER RESPONSIBLE FOR RIDING QUALITY. THE NATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION AGENCY (ANAC), RESPONSIBLE FOR CONTROLLING AND SUPERVISING AIRFIELD PAVEMENTS IN BRAZIL, THROUGH THE DOCUMENT RBAC 153 ASSESS THE ROUGHNESS WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ROUGHNESS INDEX (IRI) ON PAVED RUNWAYS. THE IRI QUANTIFIES THE SURFACE DEVIATIONS IN M/KM. FURTHERMORE, THE BOEING BUMP ROUGHNESS INDEX (BBI) AND RUNWAY ROUGHNESS INDEX (RRI) ARE PARAMETERS RECOMMENDED BY THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION (FAA), WHICH CONSIDERS IN ADDITION TO THE SURFACE DEVIATIONS, THE LENGTH AND AMPLITUDE OF THE WAVE. BESIDES, THIS PAPERS PRESENTS HOW THESE INDEXES CAN BE EVALUATED ON SEMI PREPARED RUNWAYS. THEREFORE, THIS STUDY PRESENTS THESE BEARING QUALITY INDICES WHOSE PURPOSE IS TO GUARANTEE SAFE AIRFIELD OPERATIONS.
