PREDICTIVE MODELING OF URBAN GROWTH IN AN AIRPORT REGION - A CASE STUDY¶
Abstract¶
The United Nations Development Program published in 2013 the Human Development Index in Municipalities for the years between 1991 and 2010 in Brazil. The development of the municipality of Aparecida de Goiânia was of great importance due to of the value of its growth being greater than the average of the national and state growth. For there to be growth in the GDP of a municipality or coun try, there must be a turnover in the economy, largely caused by industries, companies, in addition to government investments.The Antares Aeronautical Complex is an example of this investment, as it is a project aimed at executive aviation, aircraft maintenance and logistics. Due to the points mentioned, this work aims to estimate the growth rate of the municipality of Aparecida de Goiânia for the next five years, based on variables of airport and economic characteristics.The methodology of this paper was divided into three main stages: i) Data collection; ii) Processing and selection of variables; iii) Prediction model based on linear regression. Despite being an early stage study, the model showed good accuracy when adjusted for estimates and can still make predictions for new data and applied to other Brazilian municipalities.
